Jannie Ross Fine Art

Art Biography of Jannie Ross:

The love of beauty is evident in all of Jannie Ross’s paintings. She captures the rose on a sunlit morning as it is just opening, the Magnolia peeping through the dense darkness of the dark green leaves of the tree, the iris as it dances and glistens in the sunlight, the bold peony blossom as it is just beginning to close at twilight with just enough sunlight gleaming through its petals, the moonflower glowing in the dark of night, the many lilies dancing in the Oklahoma breeze with bright sunlight exposing their delicate textured petals

Jannie Ross is an avid flower gardener, winning the coveted Gardener of the Year Award. Her flower garden color is enhanced by the ever-changing blooms of the perennial flowers. For several decades she preserved these flowers. She wanted to save them even longer and started to paint them on canvas. She saw a newspaper ad with a huge white rose photo announcing an art class taught by Ray Cantwell, a well-known art instructor, and china painter. Ray taught many genres and Jannie was willing to attempt them all. Ray died unexpectedly and Linda Rous a wildlife painter taught his students wildlife as well as portraits. Jannie painted each of her grandchildren and husband. On a visit to San Diego, Jannie fell in love with a Brian Davis painting in a gallery, the light looked as if it was coming through the canvas. That image never left her. She finally was able to study under Brian Davis, a master painter. He became her mentor. Now she devotes most of her time capturing the luminosity of light trickling through the petals of the flowers that she grows in her garden. She has won several top awards with her paintings from the Ponca City Art Center and the Blackwell Fair.
